Jordan Stannard Loses Leg Protecting Daughter in Venice Crash

VENICE, CA (June 16, 2026) — A 38-year-old Los Angeles father suffered catastrophic injuries after reportedly shielding his 2-year-old daughter from an out-of-control truck during a pedestrian crash in Venice on June 16.

According to reports, Jordan Stannard and his family were standing outside their Tesla when the incident unfolded along Venice Boulevard.

Authorities said Stannard was loading his 2-year-old daughter, Sadie, into the vehicle when he heard an initial collision. Moments later, a GMC truck struck a Mercedes SUV that was waiting for a parking space before continuing toward Stannard and his daughter.

Reports indicate Stannard threw Sadie into the Tesla moments before the truck struck him. He sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital, where doctors later amputated his left leg.

A GoFundMe fundraiser has been established to help the Stannard family cover medical expenses related to the incident.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Regardless of who may ultimately be at fault, collisions involving vehicles and pedestrians often leave pedestrians with the most severe injuries. While all road users have a responsibility to obey traffic laws and practice safe behavior, drivers bear a significant duty to remain alert and yield when required. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 7,314 pedestrians were killed in traffic crashes in 2023, a 3.7% decrease from 2022 but still 14% higher than the pre-pandemic total recorded in 2019.

“Having the proper resources is essential when investigating a pedestrian accident and determining whether negligence occurred,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and an experienced pedestrian accident attorney.

Bond added, “In many situations, pedestrians have the right-of-way while crossing a roadway or intersection, even if they are not within a marked crosswalk. Drivers have a duty to yield to pedestrians.”

Roadway conditions, visibility of traffic signs, and lighting conditions are among the factors that investigators carefully evaluate. A thorough investigation helps families and injured victims better understand what occurred and pursue the justice they deserve.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Jordan Stannard may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit pending the outcome of the investigation.

Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal, said, “People injured in traffic collisions often seek compensation through a personal injury claim for medical expenses, future treatment, lost income, emotional distress, and pain and suffering.”

“Insurance companies are often reluctant to fully compensate injured victims for the financial burdens they face. An experienced attorney can advocate on behalf of victims, protect their legal rights, and work to secure fair compensation,” Formica added.
