OSHP: Jonathan Bowling dies, Alexzandria Hickle later dies in Tiffin crash

TIFFIN, OH, (March 26, 2026) – Two 22-year-olds were killed Thursday morning in a single-vehicle crash near Tiffin, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Authorities identified the victims as Jonathan Bowling and Alexzandria Hickle. The pair were passengers in a vehicle traveling eastbound on State Route 18 near County Road 48 when it left the roadway around 10:40 a.m., struck a tree, and became submerged in a pond.

Bowling died at the scene, while Hickle was transported to Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital, where she later died. Another passenger also lost their life in the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

The OSHP will release a full report after completing its investigation into the crash that claimed the victims’ lives.

In the meantime, Candice Bond emphasized that accidents like this require an independent investigation by an experienced law firm to preserve evidence and protect the rights of grieving families.

“In addition to the work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-examine witness statements, review surveillance footage, and obtain phone and text records of the potentially responsible party,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “Serving as an advocate, an attorney can guide families through this difficult time while protecting their legal rights and interests.”

Each year, approximately 36,000 people are killed and another 1.9 million are injured in motor vehicle crashes in the United States. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, speeding is the leading cause of fatal crashes, followed by impairment, lane violations, failure to yield, and distracted driving.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family members of Jonathan Bowling and Alexzandria Hickle may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Families of victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic accident.

“We understand the immense challenges families face after such a loss, and protecting their rights is critical,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal. “A wrongful death attorney will stay informed about the investigation and help ensure that the family’s best interests are represented. Families may pursue compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.”
