MODESTO, Calif. — June 27, 2026 — One person was killed and seven others were injured, including one with major injuries, after a high-speed multi-vehicle crash Saturday night on Ladd Road near Del Rio in Stanislaus County, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The collision occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Ladd Road east of Tully Road. According to CHP’s preliminary investigation, a 2026 Porsche coupe was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed when it rear-ended a 2016 Ram pickup truck carrying six occupants, including two teenagers and a child. The force of the impact caused the Ram to leave the roadway and overturn. The Porsche then crossed into the eastbound lane, where it collided head-on with a 2023 Mercedes SUV. The Porsche caught fire following the second impact, forcing authorities to close the roadway for several hours.
The driver of the Porsche was pronounced dead at the scene. Jon Burgess, 38, of Manteca, who was a passenger in the Porsche, was transported to a hospital with major injuries. Two occupants of the Mercedes also sustained major injuries and were taken to a medical facility. The remaining victims suffered minor injuries.
Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and CHP has not released the identity of the deceased Porsche driver or additional details regarding the other occupants.
