PERU TOWNSHIP, OH, (April 14, 2026) – A 43-year-old Mount Gilead man was killed Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Peru Township.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 55-year-old Caledonia man was driving a Honda Accord southeast on County Road 228 at approximately 5:43 a.m. when he failed to stop at a posted sign. The vehicle entered the intersection at County Road 24 and collided with a Jeep Wrangler driven by John Walker.
Authorities said both vehicles traveled off the southwest corner of the intersection following the impact. Walker sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation, and officials have not yet determined whether impairment played a role.
