John Aaron Bristow died in Callahan County semi-truck crash on I-20

CALLAHAN, TX, (April 15, 2026) – A 65-year-old tractor-trailer driver was killed Wednesday night in a chain-reaction crash on Interstate 20 in Callahan County.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred around 8 p.m. when a tow truck experienced a tire blowout, leading to a multi-vehicle pile-up.

Authorities said John Aaron Bristow, who was driving a semi-truck, struck a median during the incident and his vehicle rolled over.

Bristow was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), approximately 11,000 tire-related crashes occur in the United States each day.

In cases like this, multiple parties—including the tow truck driver, as well as the tire manufacturer, distributor, or retailer—may potentially be held liable if a defective tire contributed to the crash. Tire recalls are not uncommon, and major manufacturers have issued them in the past. When a defect is identified, a victim’s family may pursue legal action against responsible parties.

Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, emphasized that conducting an independent investigation as soon as possible is critical to preserving key evidence for a grieving family.

“There have been numerous cases showing that tires from well-known manufacturers were defective and unsafe,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a national analyst with Accident Injury News. “Beyond law enforcement efforts, the failed tire itself is vital evidence and should be carefully examined by an attorney. Accident reconstruction experts may also be required to determine whether a defect played a role. These steps are essential to help victims’ families obtain justice and financial compensation.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family members of John Aaron Bristow may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain, suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident.

“We understand the difficulties families face after such a loss, and protecting their rights is crucial,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal. “A wrongful death attorney will monitor the official investigation and help ensure that the family’s best interests are represented. Relatives may pursue compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic incident.”
