KINGS COUNTY, CA – April 12, 2026 – Five people were killed in a fiery head-on crash Sunday morning on Highway 41 in Kings County, California, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Officials identified one of the victims as 21-year-old JJ Michael Grimaldo.
Investigators said that at approximately 10:30 a.m., a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling southbound on State Highway 41, south of York Avenue, when it attempted to pass slower traffic. During the maneuver, it collided head-on with a northbound 2022 Toyota Prius.
The impact caused the Chevrolet to overturn and catch fire, resulting in the deaths of the driver and three passengers, including Grimaldo. The driver of the Toyota Prius was also killed in the collision.
An online fundraiser has been created by Grimaldo’s family to help cover funeral expenses.
CHP confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing.
