CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
The investigation into the tragic accident that resulted in Mr. Huang’s death is currently ongoing to determine the specific factors that contributed to the incident. Nationally, train-related accidents are a persistent concern. The National Safety Council reported that railroad deaths totaled 954 in 2024, which marked a 1% decrease from the revised total of 967 in 2023. These types of fatalities can result from poorly marked crossings, malfunctioning signals, or inadequate safety barriers.
Candice Bond, an experienced train accident attorney and a national analyst for Accident Injury News, emphasized the importance of securing an independent investigation immediately after such an event to preserve evidence. Bond explained that in cases such as this, a seasoned lawyer can protect a grieving family from powerful train companies that often deploy vast resources to defend against claims of negligence.
WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM
Pending the official investigation’s findings, the family members of Jiankang Huang may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News, noted that the shock and sorrow of losing a loved one in an accident can be overwhelming. He stated that in cases such as this, a wrongful death attorney will closely monitor the official investigation to ensure the victim’s legal rights and best interests are protected. Relatives of wrongful death victims may seek compensation for substantial losses, including emotional distress, pain and suffering, and loss of companionship.
