SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating a vehicle crash April 22 that killed one man and injured two others.
The accident occurred just before 3:30 p.m. on Alabama 76 near milepost 4, less than a mile northeast of Childersburg. A 2008 Honda Accord struck a 2015 Nissan Altima traveling in the opposite direction.
Jerome Kelley, 32, drove the Honda when the accident happened. He sustained injuries and was transported to the University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital for treatment.
A passenger in the Nissan Altima, a 77-year-old man, was critically injured. He was transported to Coosa Valley Medical Center in Sylacauga, where he succumbed. The driver of the Altima, a 75-year-old woman from Columbiana, was also hurt and taken to the same hospital for care.
