Florida experienced 104,273 hit-and-run crashes in 2023, resulting in 271 fatalities and 871 serious injuries, with pedestrians and bicyclists accounting for 76% of the deaths, according to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. The majority of fatal hit-and-run incidents (over 81%) occurred during dawn, dusk, or nighttime conditions when visibility was impaired.
