Jennifer Pym hurt in Wabash Road collision in Seneca, sheriff says

TOWN OF SENECA, NY, (April 23, 2026) – A 32-year-old Penn Yan woman was seriously injured Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in the Town of Seneca, authorities said.

According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. when a 33-year-old Penn Yan man driving a Ford F-150 eastbound on Kashong Switch Road failed to stop at a stop sign.

The pickup truck collided with a Hyundai driven by Jennifer Pym, who was traveling southbound on Wabash Road.

Pym was found unconscious at the scene with serious injuries and was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for treatment.

The driver of the pickup was also taken to a hospital with injuries that were not specified. Authorities said he was issued a traffic ticket for failing to stop at a stop sign.

The crash remains under investigation.

STOP-SIGN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Traffic laws clearly require drivers to come to a complete stop at stop signs. Unfortunately, not all motorists follow these rules, leading to accidents such as the one that seriously injured Pym.

According to the Federal Highway Administration, nearly 40% of vehicle collisions occur at intersections, often due to drivers running stop signs or traffic lights. Common contributing factors include impatience, reckless behavior, and distracted driving.

Regardless of the outcome of the official police investigation, Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, emphasized the importance of initiating an independent investigation to preserve evidence and protect the victim’s rights.

“Prompt action is critical in cases like this to ensure that evidence is reviewed efficiently,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “In addition to law enforcement efforts, an attorney will thoroughly assess all contributing factors and has the resources to engage expert witnesses, conduct driver background checks, identify witnesses, and review insurance coverage. Acting as an advocate, legal counsel can help guide victims through this difficult time while safeguarding their rights and interests.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending results of the investigation, Jennifer Pym may be entitled to a personal injury claim for damages covering medical and rehabilitation costs, lost wages, pain and suffering, and emotional trauma.

“Victims injured in serious collisions often pursue personal injury claims to address the financial burden associated with recovery,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal. “Insurance companies are not always attentive to the growing expenses an injured person may face. An attorney can step in to help protect victims and work to ensure they receive fair compensation.”
