MHP: Jennifer Bush dies in US 49 Covington motorcycle crash

COVINGTON, MS, (April 15, 2026) — A Moselle woman died following a motorcycle crash Wednesday night in Covington County, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Authorities said a 2025 Kia K4 sedan and a 2025 Kawasaki Ninja were traveling north on U.S. Highway 49 when they collided shortly before 10 p.m.

Jennifer L. Bush, 42, who was a passenger on the motorcycle, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital, where she later died.

MOTORCYCLE CRASH INVESTIGATION

In 2023, motorcycle fatalities in the United States reached 6,335, accounting for 15% of all traffic deaths, the highest level since 1975, according to the NHTSA. With a fatality rate of 31.39 per 100 million miles traveled, improving driver awareness and roadway safety remains essential to reducing preventable fatalities.

“Motorcyclists are among the most vulnerable road users,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal. “Even relatively minor collisions can result in severe or fatal injuries, highlighting the need for caution among all motorists.”

Bond, an experienced motorcycle accident attorney, added that in cases like this, a timely and independent investigation by a qualified attorney is critical to protect the rights of the victim’s family.

“Blind spots, driver inexperience, and distractions are frequent contributing factors in these crashes. Acting as an advocate, an attorney can help guide families through this difficult time while ensuring accountability when traffic laws are not followed.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Jennifer Bush may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Families of victims may seek compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic accident.

“The grief and stress after losing a loved one in an accident can be overwhelming,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand the challenges families face, and ensuring their rights are protected is essential. A wrongful death attorney will stay informed on the investigation and help safeguard their legal rights and best interests.”
