Jenna Pitcher among five hurt in Crawford County collision

OBLONG, IL (June 25, 2026) — Jenna Pitcher, 38, of Newton, was injured Thursday in a head-on collision on State Route 33 in Crawford County that sent five people to area hospitals, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department.

Investigators said a 36-year-old Annapolis man was traveling west on State Route 33 when he crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a vehicle driven by Pitcher near the Children’s Christian Home.

Emergency crews extricated Pitcher from her vehicle before transporting her to Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson with unspecified injuries.

Two juveniles riding with Pitcher were also taken to Crawford Memorial Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

The Annapolis driver was airlifted to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana with unspecified injuries, while a passenger in his vehicle transported himself to Crawford Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

HEAD-ON ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, said collisions such as this often warrant an independent investigation to help safeguard the rights of injured victims.

“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are among the factors that investigators carefully evaluate,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal. “In some cases, an accident reconstruction team is necessary to determine exactly how a collision occurred. These investigative resources can be critical in helping clients pursue compensation for injuries, property damage, or other losses.”

Vehicle crashes injure roughly 1.9 million people every year in the United States. Speeding, impairment from alcohol, drugs, or medication, failure to remain in the proper lane, failure to yield the right of way, and distracted driving are among the leading causes of these crashes, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

“Acting quickly is essential in cases like this so that important evidence is preserved and thoroughly examined,” said Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “In addition to the work performed by law enforcement, an attorney can investigate contributing factors, retain qualified experts, review driver histories, identify witnesses, and examine applicable insurance coverage. Legal representation helps protect victims’ rights while providing guidance during a difficult time.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, Jenna Pitcher may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim to recover damages for medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, lost income, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.

“Injured victims often pursue personal injury claims to help cover the financial impact of a serious collision,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal. “Insurance companies are frequently more focused on limiting payouts than addressing the growing costs victims face. An experienced attorney can advocate on behalf of the injured and work to secure the compensation they deserve.”
