Jeffrey Ramsey Jr dies after SR-52 pedestrian collision San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA, (March 18, 2026) – A 35-year-old man, Jeffrey Thomas Ramsey Jr., died days after being struck by a vehicle along State Route 52 in San Diego.

Authorities said the crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. on March 18 near Convoy Street. A vehicle traveling eastbound struck Ramsey Jr., causing serious injuries.

He was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries nine days later.

No details about the driver have been released. The investigation remains ongoing.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Each year, thousands of pedestrians are killed on U.S. roadways, driven by factors such as reckless driving, poor infrastructure, and roads designed primarily for vehicles. Between 2009 and 2023, pedestrian fatalities increased by 80%, compared to a 13% rise in overall traffic deaths, according to the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA).

“In many cases, pedestrians have the right of way when crossing streets, even outside marked crosswalks,” said Candice Bond, an experienced pedestrian accident attorney.

Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal, emphasized the importance of an independent investigation to protect the rights of the victim’s family.

Factors such as road conditions, visibility of signage, and lighting must be carefully examined. These steps are critical in helping families pursue justice and accountability.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

“It is generally a driver’s responsibility to yield to pedestrians,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal. The family of Jeffrey Thomas Ramsey Jr. may be entitled to a wrongful death claim.

“Families of wrongful death victims may pursue compensation for loss of income, companionship, pain and suffering, funeral expenses, and emotional distress following such a tragic event,” Bond added.

“Insurance companies often attempt to pressure victims into accepting quick settlements far below the value of the claim. An attorney will advocate strongly to ensure fair compensation and proper treatment.”
