Jayden Miranda hurt in TX crash; one killed, DPS says

HENDERSON, TX, (March 26, 2026) — A 19-year-old passenger, Jayden Miranda, was injured early Thursday morning in a crash that claimed one life in Henderson County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Authorities said a westbound Chevrolet pickup was traveling at an unsafe speed when it entered a left-hand curve on FM 317 west of FM 1803 just after 2 a.m. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.

Miranda, of Murchison, was transported to UT Health in Athens with injuries. The driver, a 20-year-old man from Athens, was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, speeding contributed to 29 percent of all traffic fatalities in 2023, resulting in 11,775 deaths nationwide. Excessive speed not only increases the likelihood of crashes but also significantly raises the severity of injuries.

“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all factors that must be carefully evaluated,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

“In some cases, an accident reconstruction team is required to determine exactly what occurred,” Bond added. “These resources are essential in helping victims and families recover compensation for damages or losses resulting from a collision.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Jayden Miranda could pursue a wrongful death claim. Family members of victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic accident.

“The emotional impact after losing a loved one in a crash can be overwhelming,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

“We understand the challenges families face during such times, and ensuring their legal rights are protected is critical. A wrongful death attorney will stay informed on the investigation and work to safeguard the family’s best interests,” Bond added.
