Jayanna Clark Booked After Pinellas County Crash Killed Child

OLDSMAR, FL (May 28, 2026) — A 27-year-old woman was arrested Thursday in connection with a crash in Oldsmar that claimed the life of a 6-year-old girl, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the collision occurred April 30 at the intersection of Tampa Road and St. Petersburg Drive. Investigators determined that an eastbound Nissan Altima and a westbound Tesla Model 3 entered the intersection at the same time as the Tesla driver attempted to turn south onto St. Petersburg Drive.

Emergency responders transported all four occupants involved in the collision to area hospitals. Authorities said the 6-year-old girl later died from injuries suffered in the crash approximately one week after the incident.

A 4-year-old boy riding in the Nissan, the 52-year-old Tesla driver, and the Nissan driver also sustained injuries and were hospitalized, officials said.

Investigators noted that speed appeared to be a contributing factor in the collision.

Authorities arrested the Nissan driver, identified as Jayanna Clark, on Thursday. She was booked into the Pinellas County Jail and faces charges of vehicular homicide and two counts of child neglect.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the crash.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, speeding contributed to 29 percent of all traffic fatalities in 2023, resulting in 11,775 deaths across the United States. Excessive speed not only increases the likelihood of collisions but also significantly raises the severity of injuries sustained in crashes.

“Roadway conditions, visibility, and lighting are among the many potential contributing factors investigators examine after a serious collision,” said Candice Bond, a Managing Partner with Bond Legal.

“In some cases, an accident reconstruction team may be required to determine exactly how the crash occurred. These investigative resources are important in helping clients pursue compensation for losses and damages resulting from a collision,” Bond added.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, victims injured in the crash may have grounds to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, explained that serious injuries can create overwhelming emotional and financial hardships affecting every aspect of a victim’s life.

“It is important for victims to retain an attorney when pursuing a personal injury claim because legal counsel can negotiate directly with insurance companies on their behalf,” Formica said.

“Insurance companies frequently attempt to secure quick settlements for far less than a claim may truly be worth. An experienced attorney will strongly advocate for victims to help ensure they are treated fairly and receive appropriate compensation.”
