WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that happened May 6 on Turnipseed Road near Old Medlin Farm Road.
At around 11:15 a.m., a white, newer-model Subaru passed three motorcycles and abruptly braked before driving away. One motorcyclist sped up to get the vehicle’s plate information. The Subaru braked suddenly again, forcing a rider to lay down the bike.
Jay Whitley Guido, 53, of Zebulon, suffered critical injuries. Emergency personnel transported him to the hospital, where he succumbed.
Authorities described the Subaru’s driver as a woman with blonde, shoulder-length hair, approximately 40 years old. The driver left the scene before law enforcement arrived.

More than 2,850 people were killed by hit-and-run crashes in 2022 — a significant increase compared to earlier years.
