Jasmine Brown dies in Marion County I-75 DUI wreck FL

MARION, FL (March 21, 2026) – Jasmine Brown, 22, was killed in a tragic DUI-related crash on Interstate 75 in Marion County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

Authorities said Brown was riding a motorcycle at about 9:30 p.m. when she was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by Melinda Dillon. After the initial impact, Brown was struck by another vehicle.

FHP reported that Dillon showed signs of impairment, including slurred speech and the odor of alcohol. Breath samples registered .09 and .08. Dillon has since been charged with DUI.

Brown, a mother of two young daughters, is remembered by loved ones as a caring parent. A GoFundMe has been launched to assist with funeral expenses and support her children.

FATAL DWI ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

According to Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, more than 3,000 fatalities in 2022 were linked to drunk driving crashes across the state.

Such incidents are entirely preventable, as impaired driving significantly increases risks for everyone on the road. Candice Bond, a seasoned DUI accident attorney, shared insight into these cases.

“Beyond any criminal proceedings, families may have the right to pursue compensation through a civil action,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “An attorney can support grieving families, help safeguard their legal rights, and work to ensure accountability for reckless behavior.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family members of Jasmine Brown may be eligible to file a wrongful death claim. Surviving relatives can pursue damages for loss of companionship, emotional pain, and suffering following a tragic accident.

“We recognize the hardships families endure after such incidents, and ensuring their rights are protected is essential,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal. “A wrongful death attorney will stay informed on the investigation and advocate for the family’s best interests. Compensation may be available for companionship loss, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.”
