YOUNGSTOWN, FL, (April 18, 2026) — A Bay County Emergency Services captain was killed Saturday morning in a rear-end collision in Youngstown, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
Authorities said the crash occurred along U.S. 231 when a gray sedan struck the rear of a vehicle driven by 34-year-old Jared Sasnett of Panama City. Investigators reported that the impact caused Sasnett’s vehicle to lose control and collide with a utility pole.

The driver of the sedan sustained minor injuries and was also taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Officials confirmed that Sasnett served as a captain with Bay County Emergency Services for more than 13 years and is survived by his wife and four children.
