POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY, Okla. — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating a multi-vehicle accident on June 5 that left one person dead and another critically injured.
At around 4: 42 a.m., a northbound 1998 Ford Explorer attempted to pass vehicles on U.S. 177 and struck the trailer of a 2021 Ford F-350 truck. The impact caused the Explorer to crash into a 2002 Honda GL1800 motorcycle.
Janice Olson, age 56, was riding as a passenger on the motorcycle when the accident occurred. EMS transported her to OU Medical Trauma, where she was pronounced dead.
OHP said the motorcycle’s driver, a 76-year-old man, was ejected upon impact and suffered critical injuries. He was admitted to an area hospital.
Investigators continue gathering information about the accident.
