The number of Arkansas hit-and-run accidents seems to be increasing, though specific statistics were not available. Arkansas law imposes severe penalties for leaving the scene of an accident, with fines ranging up to $10,000 and a maximum of six years in prison along with the cancellation of a driver’s license.

The Arkansas Highway Safety Office coordinates statewide behavioral highway safety programs but does not maintain separate hit-and-run statistics in their publicly available reports.

Pending the results of the investigation, the family of Jamiyah Devose-Croom may be entitled to a wrongful death claim for funeral expenses, the loss of love and companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional trauma.
