SALINE COUNTY, Ark. — State troopers are investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred June 17 in rural Saline County.
The wreck happened around 3:32 p.m. on the southbound side of Interstate 530, near milepost 10, during rainy weather and wet pavement conditions.
Jamiyah Devose-Croom, 19, of Pine Bluff, was riding in the back seat of a 2022 Hyundai Elantra when another vehicle struck it from behind. The impact forced the Hyundai off the roadway, where it hit a tree and ejected Devose-Croom.
Sadly, Authorities pronounced Devose-Croom dead at the scene.
Three others in the car—a 37-year-old woman, an 18-year-old woman, and a minor, all from Pine Bluff—suffered unspecified injuries.
The vehicle that struck the Hyundai left the scene. Its make and model remain unknown, according to the Arkansas Department of Public Safety.
Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact authorities as they continue investigating the accident.
