PIERCE, WA, (April 10, 2026) – James Weinstein, 32, was critically injured Friday night in a hit-and-run crash in the Summit area of Pierce County, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the incident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. on Canyon Road. Weinstein had reportedly stopped to retrieve his glasses after they fell from his vehicle while returning home from a Seattle Mariners game.
While outside his vehicle, he was struck by a southbound Chevrolet Silverado, believed to be a 1994-2000 model. The driver briefly stopped but then fled the scene.
Weinstein sustained multiple serious injuries and remains hospitalized in critical condition. A GoFundMe page has been created to assist with medical and related expenses.
Investigators are asking anyone with information to come forward. The suspect vehicle is believed to have front grille damage.
