ANTWERP, NY, (March 24, 2026) — A 96-year-old man has died from injuries sustained in a crash that occurred near Antwerp, authorities said.
James Tharrett, of Nicholville, was a passenger in an SUV traveling on Route 11 just south of the village when another vehicle turned left into a driveway and entered the SUV’s path.
Tharrett was taken to Samaritan Medical Center for treatment following the collision. He later died on March 30 from his injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 44-year-old woman from Watertown, was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way. No additional charges are expected. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate.
