CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
The tragic loss of Mr. Lewis has led to an ongoing investigation into the two-vehicle collision. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that roughly 36,000 people die and 1.9 million people are injured in motor vehicle accidents across the country each year. Speeding is frequently cited as the primary cause of fatal crashes, followed by the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication, as well as distracted driving and failure to stay in the proper lane.
Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney and Managing Partner at Bond Legal, serving as a national analyst for Accident Injury News, emphasized the importance of securing an independent investigation. Bond noted that in cases such as this, it is essential for an attorney to gather critical evidence, which may include interviewing witnesses, analyzing surveillance video, and obtaining necessary records, to ultimately protect the family’s legal rights.
WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM
The family members of James Lewis may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. This type of legal action is a civil lawsuit that allows relatives of victims who have died due to another party’s negligence to seek damages.
Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal and a national analyst with Accident Injury News, explained the nature of such claims. “A wrongful death lawyer will monitor the official investigation and help ensure that the family’s best interests are taken care of,” Formica stated. He added that relatives are entitled to seek damages for the profound losses suffered, including loss of companionship, emotional distress, and pain and suffering following the tragedy.
