James Kidd dies after semi-truck fails to yield in Dallas County

DALLAS, AR, (April 29, 2026) – A 72-year-old Camden man was killed Wednesday afternoon in a collision involving multiple tractor-trailers in Dallas County, according to State Police.

The victim was identified as James Kidd.

Authorities said the crash occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 79 and State Highway 273. A semi-truck driver reportedly failed to yield to oncoming traffic, leading to a dangerous chain of events.

Investigators said another 18-wheeler struck Kidd’s Toyota Corolla while attempting to avoid the initial truck. A passenger inside the Corolla sustained injuries and was transported for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation.

SEMI-TRUCK ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Tractor-trailer drivers can be involved in collisions for several reasons, with driver error being one of the most common causes, according to the National Safety Council (NSC).

Other contributing factors include driver fatigue, inadequate training, prescription medication use, mechanical issues, speeding, and distracted driving. In 2023, crashes involving large trucks resulted in 5,472 fatalities, with most victims being occupants of other vehicles.

Candice Bond, an experienced semi-truck accident attorney, highlighted the complexity of such cases.

“Tractor-trailer crashes often involve multiple contributing factors that must be carefully evaluated,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal. “An attorney can assist by securing expert witnesses, reviewing driver history, locating witnesses, and analyzing insurance coverage while guiding families through the legal process.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family of James Kidd may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Families in such cases may seek compensation for emotional distress, loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and other damages resulting from a fatal crash.

“We understand the overwhelming grief families experience after such tragedies, and protecting their rights is essential,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal.

“A wrongful death attorney will monitor the investigation and ensure the family’s interests are properly represented. Families may be entitled to damages for both emotional and financial losses following a catastrophic accident.”
