CLEVELAND, OH, (April 24, 2026) – A 54-year-old Fairview Park man died from injuries sustained in a multi-vehicle crash involving a stolen SUV Friday evening in Cleveland.
According to authorities, the collision occurred at approximately 6 p.m. at the intersection of West 150th Street and Lorain Avenue. Investigators said a GMC SUV had been stolen from a driveway near West 130th Street just minutes before the crash. Witnesses reported the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to impact.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and extricated one occupant trapped inside a vehicle. The victim, identified as James Cook, suffered traumatic cardiac arrest and was transported for medical care, where he was later pronounced dead at 9:10 a.m. Sunday.
Five additional individuals, ranging in age from 23 to 54, were injured and taken to local hospitals. Officials said one victim was initially in critical condition, another in serious condition, while two others were listed as stable.
Police arrested a 22-year-old suspect who now faces charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and aggravated vehicular assault. The individual remains in custody on a $50,000 bond.
The Cleveland Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
