REFUGIO, TX, (March 22, 2026) — A 20-year-old Sugar Land man, Jakendryck Collins, died Tuesday from injuries he sustained in a rollover crash Sunday on U.S. 77 in Refugio County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Authorities said a northbound Jeep Wrangler suffered a rear tire blowout at about 1:54 p.m., causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle veered off the roadway, entered the shoulder, and overturned multiple times.
Collins, a rear-seat passenger, was ejected and airlifted to CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline Hospital in Corpus Christi, where he later died. Another passenger was also ejected and airlifted, while two others were transported to a local hospital. The crash remains under investigation.
