Jaimon Cohens hurt in Jacksonville head-on bike crash FL

JACKSONVILLE, FL (March 23, 2026) – Jaimon “JT” Cohens, 14, was seriously injured following a head-on mini motorbike accident on March 23 in Jacksonville.

According to reports, the crash occurred near a busy intersection just off Mayport Road when Cohens collided head-on with another rider. He was rushed to UF Health Wolfson Children’s Hospital, where surgeons performed an operation on his arm and stabilized his leg.

Doctors later conducted a second surgery on his leg after swelling decreased. Cohens is currently using a wheelchair and is expected to be unable to walk for several weeks. His recovery may take up to 10 weeks, and he will likely require physical therapy.

A GoFundMe has been started to assist the family with medical expenses. The accident remains under investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Dirt bike accidents can lead to serious injuries, with nearly 60 percent of victims suffering trauma to the upper and lower extremities, as seen in cases like Jaimon’s.

One study found that over a 12-year span, approximately 1,870 dirt bike-related injuries were reported, including 450 fractures. While authorities continue to determine the cause and liability in this case, Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney and Managing Partner of Bond Legal, stressed the importance of conducting an independent investigation.

“Alongside the work done by law enforcement, an attorney can revisit key witnesses, review any available surveillance footage, and secure phone and text records of the responsible party,” said Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “Acting quickly is critical in these cases to ensure that all relevant evidence is properly preserved and analyzed.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Jaimon “JT” Cohens may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, explained that the aftermath of a serious injury can create significant stress, impacting a victim’s family life, financial stability, and overall well-being.

“While financial compensation cannot undo the harm caused, it is important that victims understand their legal rights and available options,” Formica said. “In cases like this, the injured party may be eligible to seek damages for medical costs, ongoing treatment, pain and suffering, and emotional distress resulting from the accident.”
