Jackson Mobley killed in Highway 65 crash in Franklin County, FCSO

FRANKLIN, FL, (April 06, 2026) – A tragic single-vehicle crash claimed the life of an 18-year-old Georgia student and two others Monday during a spring break trip in Franklin County.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson Mobley was among four Horizon Christian Academy students traveling in a Jeep along Florida Highway 65 en route to St. George Island when the vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a tree.

The impact caused the Jeep to catch fire. Good Samaritans arriving moments after the crash managed to pull one passenger from the front seat before the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames.

Mobley and two other students were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 17-year-old survivor was airlifted to Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare with serious injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

“It is essential to determine the exact cause of crashes like this. An attorney has the resources to evaluate insurance coverage, retain expert witnesses, conduct background checks, and identify witnesses. We guide the victim’s family carefully through the process,” said Candice Bond, a managing partner with Bond Legal.

She added that in cases such as this, an independent investigation is critical to preserving evidence.

“Beyond the police report, an attorney will thoroughly assess contributing factors,” said Bond. “A lawyer can engage expert witnesses, review driver histories, locate witnesses, and analyze insurance coverage. Acting as an advocate, an attorney helps guide victims through what can be a complex process.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Jackson Mobley may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident such as this.

“The stress and sorrow can be overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand the difficulties families face during such times, and protecting their rights is essential. A wrongful death attorney will remain updated on the official investigation and help ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected,” added Formica.
