Isadore Williams killed in Conway U.S. 378 bicycle collision

CONWAY, SC (April 02, 2026) – An 80-year-old man, Isadore Williams, has died following a bicycle accident involving a vehicle earlier this month in Conway.

According to authorities, the crash occurred around 5:45 a.m. on U.S. Route 378 near Westridge Boulevard when Williams, a Conway resident, was struck while riding his bicycle.

Williams was transported to Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Family members described Williams as a kind and active individual, affectionately known as “Pop,” who enjoyed helping others and spending time gardening and fishing.

FATAL BICYCLE ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

No additional details regarding the crash have been released as Conway police continue their investigation.

Roadways can pose significant dangers for bicyclists. Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows South Carolina consistently ranks among the highest states for bicycle and pedestrian fatalities. Nationally, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety reported that 854 cyclists died in crashes involving motor vehicles in 2018, accounting for 2% of all traffic deaths. Additionally, the National Safety Council reported approximately 100,000 cyclist injuries.

“Cyclists are especially vulnerable on the road, and many variables can contribute to serious collisions,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel with Bond Legal. “It is crucial to determine the exact cause of these accidents. Attorneys can assess insurance coverage, engage expert witnesses, conduct background checks, and locate witnesses, guiding families through the legal process.”

Formica added that timely independent investigations are essential to preserve key evidence.

“In addition to the police report, an attorney will thoroughly evaluate all contributing factors involved in the crash,” he said.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Isadore Williams may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Surviving relatives may seek compensation for loss of companionship, funeral expenses, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following such a tragic accident.

Candice Bond, the national analyst for Accident Injury News and Managing Partner at Bond Legal, said, “Families coping with such losses are often overwhelmed by legal complexities. An attorney can provide compassionate guidance and help ensure that the rights of those left behind are fully protected while pursuing the compensation they deserve.”
