Iris Ramos Cruz, 2 girls also die in Adams Co Head-on crash

ADAMS, WA, (April 26, 2026) – Three girls lost their lives in a devastating two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in Adams County, authorities said. One of the victims has been identified as Othello resident Iris Ramos Cruz.

According to the sheriff’s office, the crash occurred around 12:20 p.m. on Bench Road just south of Othello. An initial investigation revealed that a white 2019 Mercedes-Benz sedan, driven by Presiliano Perez-Pineda, was traveling eastbound behind a Chevrolet Silverado pickup carrying the girls.

Investigators said Perez-Pineda attempted to pass the pickup by moving into the westbound lane. During the maneuver, the Mercedes-Benz struck the driver’s side of the Silverado, forcing it off the roadway and into an irrigation canal. All three juveniles were ejected from the truck and were later found deceased in the water near the वाहन.

Family members of Ramos Cruz have launched an online fundraiser to assist with funeral expenses.

Perez-Pineda, a 19-year-old Othello resident, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of three counts of vehicular homicide along with additional charges.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Authorities continue to investigate the crash to determine all contributing factors. While law enforcement is conducting a thorough probe, legal experts emphasize that an independent review can be critical.

“In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney may revisit key witness statements, review any available surveillance footage, and examine phone and texting records of the involved parties,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News.

Officials noted that timely evidence collection is essential to ensure a complete and accurate understanding of the incident.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family members of Iris Ramos Cruz may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a catastrophic accident.

“We understand that losing a loved one is not only a deeply emotional loss but also an economic one,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel with Bond Legal.

“If you have lost a loved one due to someone else’s negligence, it is important to consult a wrongful death attorney to receive the guidance necessary to pursue the justice you deserve.”
