SUGAR LAND, Texas — A 32-year-old man was killed on June 21 when street racers crashed into his vehicle on Highway 6 near Voss.
Ibrahim Mohammed was driving his Toyota Camry at around 9:40 p.m. when one of the racing vehicles struck him. Police pronounced Mohammed dead at the scene of the collision.
Sugar Land police arrested two men in connection with the fatal crash. Both suspects face manslaughter charges related to Mohammed’s death.
A 20-year-old man was driving the Ford Mustang that slammed into Mohammed’s vehicle. The driver remained at the crash scene after the collision occurred. The Mustang driver was transported to a local hospital along with two other people. Police have not disclosed the extent of his injuries.
Police said a 26-year-old man was driving the BMW that was racing the Mustang at the time of the crash. The BMW driver fled the scene immediately after the collision. Police located the BMW on Tuesday after a witness provided a vehicle description. Officers arrested the BMW driver at his place of business.
The BMW driver faces failure to stop and render aid charges in addition to manslaughter. He remains in jail on a $500,000 bond. The Mustang driver was released from jail on a $100,000 bond.
The incident remains under investigation.
