Fatal I-65 collision kills Alisia M. Parker in Lowndes County

LOWNDES COUNTY, AL, (May 20, 2026) – A fatal multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 65 early Wednesday morning claimed the life of a Florida woman, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

Troopers said the collision occurred around 1 a.m. near Julian Town Road when a Nissan SUV driven by a 35-year-old Mobile resident struck a Hyundai SUV operated by 45-year-old Alisia M. Parker of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The impact caused the Hyundai to collide with a tractor-trailer.

Authorities confirmed that Alisia M. Parker was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the Nissan SUV suffered injuries and was transported to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment.

ALEA officials continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

Traffic fatalities continue to rise nationwide, with driver behavior remaining a leading contributing factor. Speeding, impaired driving, and distracted driving—particularly phone use—are among the most common causes of serious roadway crashes.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 8,055 people lost their lives in motor vehicle collisions during the first quarter of 2025 alone.

Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney and Managing Partner of Bond Legal, stated that a thorough independent investigation is often essential to determine liability in complex multi-vehicle crashes.

“In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview key witnesses, examine available surveillance footage, and obtain phone or electronic records from involved parties,” Bond explained, as a national analyst for Accident Injury News.

She emphasized that timely evidence collection is critical to preserving the facts surrounding a crash and ensuring accountability.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of a victim may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and other losses resulting from a fatal collision.

“The emotional impact of losing a loved one suddenly is often devastating for families,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand the difficulties families face, and it is essential that their legal rights are protected throughout the investigative process. A wrongful death attorney can help ensure the family’s interests remain a priority as the case progresses,” he added.
