WEST PALM BEACH, FL (February 28, 2026) – Authorities are searching for a driver who fled on foot following a violent collision Saturday that left two people hospitalized at a major intersection in West Palm Beach.
According to investigators, a southbound vehicle failed to slow for a red light at Forest Hill Boulevard and Military Trail and struck the rear of another vehicle that was stopped in the center lane. The impact pushed both vehicles through the intersection.
The driver of the striking vehicle reportedly fled eastbound on foot before deputies arrived at the scene.
Elba Torres, 49, of Port St. Lucie, was riding in the struck vehicle and sustained serious injuries. The driver of that vehicle suffered critical injuries. Both victims were transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment.
The investigation remains ongoing as deputies work to identify and locate the fleeing driver.
