Hit-and-Run crash in Los Angeles Kills Lavona Graham, Police Say

LOS ANGELES, CA, (April 30, 2026) – A 62-year-old woman was killed early Thursday in a hit-and-run crash at a Los Angeles intersection, authorities said.

The Los Angeles Police Department identified the victim as Lavona Graham, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police said the collision occurred around 12:52 a.m. near Manchester and Vermont avenues. Preliminary information indicates that an unidentified vehicle traveling westbound on Manchester Avenue struck Graham.

Emergency responders transported Graham to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

The driver involved in the crash fled the scene without stopping to render aid, officials said. No suspect information has been released.

The incident remains under investigation by the LAPD.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Despite repeated warnings and public awareness, many drivers continue to flee after striking pedestrians. According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), hit-and-run fatalities in the U.S. have risen by an average of 7.2 percent annually since 2009, with more than 70% of victims being pedestrians or bicyclists.

“Proper resources are critical when investigating a hit-and-run crash and establishing liability,” said Candice Bond, an experienced hit-and-run accident attorney and Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

“Factors such as road conditions, visibility of signage, and street lighting can all contribute and must be carefully reviewed. These steps are essential to help families pursue justice after a tragic loss.”

Bond, who serves as a national analyst for Accident Injury News, added, “Drivers must always exercise caution and responsibility behind the wheel.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Lavona Graham may have the right to file a wrongful death claim. Families of victims in such cases can seek compensation for loss of companionship, emotional pain, and suffering following a tragic accident.

“The emotional toll after losing a loved one in a crash can be overwhelming,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal.

“We understand the challenges families face, and ensuring their legal rights are protected is crucial. A wrongful death attorney can track the progress of the investigation and help safeguard those rights.”
