Hit-and-run in East Vancouver injures Kyle Eck and his children

VANCOUVER, WA — Friday, November 21, 2025 — A hit-and-run crash Friday afternoon in East Vancouver left Kyle Eck, 30, in a medically induced coma and injured his three children, authorities said.

The collision occurred shortly after 3 p.m. According to preliminary reports, Mr. Eck and his three children—ages 10, 7, and 6—were struck while crossing the street in a designated crosswalk. A 17-year-old from Vancouver, driving a Nissan Versa, reportedly turned left onto Southeast 136th Avenue from Seventh Street and hit the family before fleeing the scene. Mr. Eck suffered a brain bleed and was hospitalized, where he underwent brain surgery. His children were treated for cuts, bruises, and road rash. The juvenile driver is currently facing charges of felony hit-and-run and four counts of vehicular assault. The crash remains under investigation. A FundRaising has been set up to assist the Eck family with medical expenses.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

The ongoing investigation by authorities is aimed at confirming the exact circumstances that led to this hit-and-run collision. A driver is legally required to remain at the scene of an accident and notify law enforcement; failure to do so results in criminal charges. Nationally, hit-and-run incidents are a significant traffic safety issue. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 2,872 people died in hit-and-run crashes in 2023.

Candice Bond, an experienced hit-and-run accident attorney and a national analyst for Accident Injury News, stresses that securing an independent investigation is imperative to protect the rights of the victims. Bond explained that in cases such as this, the proper resources are extremely important to fully investigate the accident, gather critical evidence, and prove negligence, especially when the at-fault driver initially fled. An attorney can help hold the responsible driver accountable for reckless behavior.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the findings of the investigation, Kyle Eck may be eligible to pursue a personal injury lawsuit to seek compensation for his injuries and those of his children. The serious nature of the injuries suffered by Mr. Eck, including the brain bleed requiring surgery, often results in substantial financial and emotional hardship for the entire family.

Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News, noted that the stress and emotional toll following a severe accident can be overwhelming, impacting family life, work, and finances. Formica emphasized that in cases such as this, it is vital for victims to retain an attorney to negotiate with insurance companies on their behalf. He explained that insurance firms often pressure victims to settle for a minimal payout; an attorney will diligently advocate for their client to ensure fair compensation that accurately reflects the full extent of their injuries and losses.
