FHP: Hit-and-run crash injures Suzen Roselip on State Road 54

ODESSA, FL, (April 25, 2026) – A 64-year-old woman remains in critical condition after being injured in a hit-and-run crash Saturday night in Odessa, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

Authorities said Suzen Leslie Roselip was riding her bicycle near Black Lake Road along State Road 54 at approximately 8:30 p.m. when she was struck by an unknown vehicle. The driver fled the scene immediately following the collision.

Roselip was later discovered by a passerby, who contacted emergency services. She was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa with life-threatening injuries, including facial fractures and brain bleeds. Officials said she underwent surgery and remains in the intensive care unit.

FHP troopers are processing the crash scene for evidence in an effort to identify the vehicle involved. No arrests have been made, and authorities have not released a description of the suspect vehicle.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Florida Highway Patrol.

HIT-AND-RUN INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Leaving the scene of a crash is a criminal offense, and data shows that approximately 11 percent of all accidents involve a hit-and-run driver. Many at-fault motorists attempt to evade responsibility by fleeing, but they can still face serious charges once identified.

Attorney Candice Bond stressed the importance of conducting a timely and independent investigation to safeguard a victim’s rights. “Proper resources are essential in investigating a hit-and-run crash and establishing negligence,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal. “Factors such as roadway conditions, visibility of signage, and lighting must all be carefully evaluated. These steps are critical in helping victims of hit-and-run incidents secure justice and the financial compensation they deserve.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the investigation, Suzen Roselip may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, explained that the aftermath of a serious injury can be overwhelming and disruptive to every aspect of a victim’s life, including family, employment, and financial stability.

“It is important for victims to retain an attorney when pursuing a personal injury claim, as legal representation can handle negotiations with insurance companies on their behalf,” Formica said.

“Insurance companies often attempt to push victims into quick settlements that may be far below what the case is worth. An attorney will advocate strongly to ensure victims are treated fairly and receive appropriate compensation,” he added.
