Heidi Mantelli injured in Oneida County DWI accident

LEE, NY, (September 23, 2026) – Heidi Mantelli, 62, was injured Wednesday night in a collision involving an alleged intoxicated driver in the Town of Lee.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Mantelli was traveling southbound on State Route 26 at approximately 9:32 p.m. when her vehicle was struck by a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Cearria Anson.

Investigators said Anson was traveling eastbound on Weaver Road when she failed to yield the right of way, resulting in the collision.

Mantelli was transported to Rome Memorial Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office determined that Anson was intoxicated. She was subsequently arrested on a DWI charge.

DWI CRASH INVESTIGATION

Every 89 seconds, someone is killed or injured in a drunk driving crash, according to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).

More than 300,000 people are injured each year in crashes caused by impaired drivers. An intoxicated driver may experience impaired judgment, reduced vision, poor coordination and delayed reaction time.

Candice Bond, an experienced DWI accident attorney, was interviewed and shared her perspective on such incidents.

“Separate from criminal charges, a victim may be entitled to compensation through a civil lawsuit against the responsible party,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a national analyst with Accident Injury News. “In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview important witnesses, examine surveillance video from the crash scene, and obtain phone and text records of the liable party. As an advocate, an attorney can compassionately guide an injured victim through this difficult time, protect their legal rights, and help ensure that a driver who takes the wheel under the influence is held accountable for their actions.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Heidi Montelli may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, noted that the stress and uncertainty following a serious injury can be overwhelming and may affect family, work, finances and overall quality of life.

“Although no amount of money can make up for a devastating injury, it is important that a victim understands their rights and what they may be entitled to under the law,” Formica added. “The injured victim in this collision may be entitled to an injury claim and may seek recovery for damages such as medical expenses, future medical care, pain and suffering, and emotional trauma.”
