LAGUNA HEIGHTS, TX, (March 28, 2026) – A pedestrian was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash late at night in Laguna Heights, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Authorities said the incident occurred around midnight near State Highway 100 and Adams Street when a Chevrolet Sonic struck a man who was walking in the area.
The victim was transported to Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, where he remains in critical but stable condition.
Officials identified the driver as 26-year-old Hector Ulises Guzman-Soto, who allegedly fled the scene following the collision but was later apprehended.
He has been charged with failure to stop and render aid, causing serious bodily injury, and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.
