SHASTA, CA, (April 09, 2026) – A 21-year-old woman was airlifted with major injuries following a head-on crash Thursday morning on a rural roadway in Shasta County, authorities said.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 8 a.m. along McArthur Road, north of Fall River Mills. A northbound 2014 Volkswagen reportedly crossed the centerline while navigating a curve and collided with a southbound 2003 Infiniti.
The impact caused the Infiniti, driven by Maiya Beck, to catch fire. Emergency responders airlifted Beck to Mercy Hospital in Redding for treatment of serious injuries.
The driver of the Volkswagen, an 85-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Officials said impairment was not a factor in the crash.
