DIAMOND BAR, CA, (May 16, 2026) – A 21-year-old man was killed early Saturday morning in a two-vehicle collision on a freeway transition road in Diamond Bar, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Jose Gonzalez Gutierrez.
Authorities said the crash occurred around 1:48 a.m. on the connector from the northbound Orange (57) Freeway to the eastbound Pomona (60) Freeway.
Investigators said a white Chevrolet Tahoe SUV and a black Honda Civic sedan collided for reasons still under investigation. The impact reportedly caused the SUV to crash into the center divider. Officials said it was not immediately clear where the Honda traveled following the collision.
Gutierrez, who was riding in one of the involved vehicles, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
