DALLAS, TX, (May 10, 2026) — An 18-year-old woman was killed early Sunday morning in a crash involving an alleged intoxicated driver on the North Central Expressway in Dallas, police said.
According to the Dallas Police Department, Hazel Soto Fuerte was a passenger in a GMC Sierra pickup truck involved in a collision with another truck at approximately 3:55 a.m. near North Henderson Avenue.
Investigators said the GMC Sierra veered across multiple lanes before striking a concrete barrier and pillar. The vehicle then re-entered the roadway and collided with a red pickup truck.
Fuerte was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash.
Authorities said five people were transported to a hospital, including the 18-year-old driver of the GMC Sierra and a passenger from the red truck. A juvenile inside the GMC suffered multiple injuries, including broken ribs and a bruised lung.
Police reported that the driver of the GMC claimed he had not consumed alcohol; however, officers reportedly found an open container of whiskey inside the vehicle and said he struggled during sobriety testing.
The driver was arrested and booked into the Dallas County Jail on charges of manslaughter and intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury.
