Hallie Baker seriously injured in Longview DUI crash on Loop 281

LONGVIEW, TX, (June 27, 2026) — A Longview woman remains hospitalized with serious injuries after a crash involving an alleged intoxicated driver Saturday evening on West Loop 281, according to the Longview Police Department.

Investigators said a Jeep crossed the median in the 2200 block of West Loop 281 at approximately 7:50 p.m. and collided with a Chevrolet Tahoe carrying five occupants. The driver of the Tahoe was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hallie Baker, who was riding in the Tahoe, suffered critical injuries and remains in the intensive care unit. Authorities said she also lost her unborn daughter as a result of the collision. Her husband sustained a severe head injury and is expected to face a lengthy recovery.

A 45-year-old Longview woman was arrested following the crash and charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault. She was booked into the Gregg County Jail on a $500,000 bond.

The Longview Police Department continues to investigate the crash and is asking anyone with information to contact investigators.

DUI ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Impaired drivers continue to pose a serious threat to everyone traveling on the nation’s roadways, and these preventable crashes can have devastating consequences for victims and their families.

“Drunken and drugged drivers are subject to criminal charges following an accident or collision that causes harm or kills another person,” explained Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

According to the National Safety Council, 10 percent of all fatal automobile accidents are caused by drivers operating under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other medications. These crashes remain the second-leading cause of automobile fatalities in the United States.

Bond added, “Separate from criminal charges, a victim’s family may be entitled to compensation through a civil lawsuit against the responsible party.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the investigation, an injured victim may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim.

Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, said that people injured in serious collisions often seek compensation for medical expenses, future treatment, lost income, emotional distress, and pain and suffering resulting from the crash.
Formica added that insurance companies do not always account for the full financial impact an injury can create. He noted that an attorney can help protect a victim’s rights and work to ensure that insurance carriers provide fair compensation for the losses sustained.
