Grant Saylor seriously injured in Champaign County accident

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash on June 4 that left a West Liberty teen seriously injured.

The accident happened at around 1:20 p.m. along E. Kanagy Road at the intersection with Ludlow Road.

Troopers said a westbound 2017 International MA025 commercial truck on Kanagy Road reportedly failed to stop at an intersection. The truck hit a southbound 1999 Ford Ranger driven by 19-year-old Grant Saylor.

Saylor’s vehicle traveled off the south side of Kanagy Road and struck an unoccupied 2016 Cadillac SRX on private property. The International truck overturned.

Saylor sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital. The truck’s driver, a 47-year-old man, suffered minor injuries and was transported to another hospital.

Additional details of the incident were not immediately released.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Candice Bond, an experienced tractor-trailer accident attorney, said in such cases, it’s imperative to have an independent investigation conducted promptly to protect a victim’s rights.

“Tractor-trailer crashes are often complex, and many factors can play a role in these types of accidents,” said Bond, who is a Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

“A skilled attorney can protect victims from trucking companies, which often send their own investigators to crash sites and possess a variety of resources they can utilize to defend a negligent truck driver.

“Your lawyer will advocate for you by hiring expert witnesses, conducting drivers’ background checks, locating witnesses to the crash, and reviewing applicable insurance coverage, while carefully guiding a victim through the legal process.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Grant Saylor may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim pending an investigation.

Bond said, “Injured victims involved in a collision often seek a personal injury claim to cover the cost of medical bills, future medical care, loss of income, emotional trauma, and pain and suffering.

“Insurance companies can be notoriously unconcerned with the mounting costs that an injured party may accrue. An attorney can help. We protect the victims of these tragedies daily, forcing the insurance companies to pay for their mistakes,” she added.
