GOLD HILL, OR, (May 18, 2026) – A 47-year-old man was killed early Saturday morning in a suspected hit-and-run crash on Access Road in Gold Hill, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Justin David Hannaford was discovered at approximately 3:12 a.m. on the roadway near Jackson County Fire District 3’s Gold Hill Station and Blackwell Road. Investigators determined that Hannaford was struck by a northbound vehicle sometime after 1:30 a.m., and the driver fled the scene without rendering aid.
Emergency medical services responded to the scene, but Hannaford was pronounced dead prior to their arrival.
The Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team was called in to assist deputies with the investigation and scene analysis.
On Monday afternoon, authorities located and arrested a 44-year-old Gold Hill woman in connection with the crash. She is currently being held in the county jail on $100,000 bail and faces multiple criminal charges.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence surrounding the incident.
