GLENVIEW, IL, (November 20, 2025) — A 72-year-old Skokie man was killed Thursday evening after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Milwaukee Avenue in Glenview.
Authorities reported that Dale Gordonchri Stoffrersen was crossing near Michael Todd Terrace at approximately 5:30 p.m. when he was hit by a BMW.
Stoffrersen died at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
The Glenview Police Department, with assistance from the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT), continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Although drivers are generally required to yield to pedestrians, those walking remain at significant risk on U.S. roadways. According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, there were 1,268 pedestrian fatalities statewide in 2022, with pedestrians accounting for 15% of all motor vehicle deaths.
