KEYSVILLE, FL – April 11, 2026: Authorities in Keysville, Florida, are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of 37-year-old Giovany Negron Talavera on Saturday evening.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), Talavera was riding a motorcycle westbound on Old Hopewell Road near Henry George Road at approximately 7:45 p.m. when a Ford Explorer struck the motorcycle head-on. Both riders were ejected upon impact.
Talavera was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger on the motorcycle sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital for emergency treatment.
Investigators say the SUV driver, identified as Edwin Rapalo-Lorenzo, fled the scene on foot after the collision. He was later located by HCSO aviation and K9 units and taken into custody. He was also transported to Tampa General Hospital for treatment of injuries.
Authorities confirmed Rapalo-Lorenzo faces multiple charges, including leaving the scene of a crash involving death, leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury, and driving without a valid license. Officials also stated an immigration detainer will be placed on him.
The investigation remains ongoing.
