VERONA, NY, (April 15, 2026) – Two drivers were injured early Wednesday morning in a three-vehicle head-on crash in Oneida County, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said Gary Wilson, 49, of Oneida, was driving a 2015 Nissan Rogue southbound on Rome New London Road at approximately 4:30 a.m. when his vehicle collided head-on with a northbound Toyota Tacoma driven by Ben Irwin, 27, of Cicero.
Investigators said a third vehicle, a 2022 Nissan Frontier driven by a 36-year-old man from East Syracuse, also traveling northbound, struck one of the involved vehicles. Following the collision, the Nissan Rogue caught fire.
Wilson, Irwin, and a 17-year-old passenger in Wilson’s vehicle were transported to Wynn Hospital with injuries. A fourth individual was taken to Rome Health for treatment.
Emergency crews from the New London and Verona fire departments, AmCare Ambulance of Rome, and New York State Police assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
