Floyd Jones hurt in Chicot County head-on collision, ASP reports

CHICOT, AR, (October 15, 2025) — A 79-year-old Montrose man, Floyd Jones, was injured Wednesday morning in a tragic head-on collision that also left one person dead in Chicot County, according to the Arkansas State Police (ASP).

The crash occurred around 5:20 a.m. on U.S. Highway 165. Preliminary reports indicate that a 2015 Mazda traveling north crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound 2020 Mack truck driven by Jones.

Emergency crews transported Jones to Chicot Memorial Hospital for treatment. The Mazda’s driver tragically died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Head-on collisions are among the most devastating types of crashes, often resulting in severe or fatal injuries. Although they represent only about 2% of all traffic accidents nationwide, they account for nearly 28.7% of traffic-related deaths, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

“In cases such as this, it is critical to conduct an independent investigation to determine what caused one vehicle to cross the centerline,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News.

“Factors such as fatigue, distraction, or mechanical failure must all be carefully examined.”

Bond explained that legal teams often work with accident reconstruction experts, review traffic camera footage, and obtain vehicle data to help uncover liability. “Quick and thorough evidence collection is essential to ensure accountability and protect the rights of the victim,” she said.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Victims injured in serious crashes like this one may be entitled to pursue a personal injury claim to recover damages for medical expenses, lost wages, and emotional trauma.

“The aftermath of a severe crash can impact every part of a person’s life — physically, emotionally, and financially,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal. “Hiring an attorney helps victims deal with insurers, who often attempt to settle cases quickly for less than they are worth.”

Formica emphasized that experienced legal representation ensures victims receive fair treatment and full compensation. “An attorney will advocate tirelessly for their client’s rights and hold negligent parties accountable,” he added.
