Fernando Pahua Rincon Injured in Chelan DUI Crash on Highway 97A

CHELAN, WA (June 25, 2026) — A passenger was injured Thursday afternoon in a suspected DUI rollover crash on State Route 97A north of Chelan, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).

The collision occurred at approximately 4 p.m. about one mile north of Chelan near milepost 237.

Investigators said a red 1997 Toyota Paseo carrying two occupants was traveling southbound on Highway 97A when it veered onto the southbound shoulder and struck a boulder. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn before it came to rest blocking the southbound lane.

Fernando Pahua Rincon, 28, of Brewster, who was riding as a passenger, and the driver were transported to Chelan Health for treatment of injuries.

According to WSP, impairment is believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Drunk driving continues to claim lives on U.S. roads, despite widespread awareness campaigns, strict laws, and alarming statistics. The tragedy is that these deaths are entirely preventable. One person was killed in a drunk-driving crash every 42 minutes in the United States in 2023, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Driving under the influence remains a serious danger on the nation’s roadways, frequently leading to devastating injuries and fatalities. An attorney can help victims and their families by carrying out an independent investigation and pursuing accountability and fair compensation.

“In addition to the work performed by law enforcement, an attorney can revisit the scene, interview key witnesses, review available surveillance footage, and obtain phone and texting records from the party believed to be at fault,” said Candice Bond, managing partner at Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News.

“Time is critical in cases like this, and it is important that evidence is gathered and examined as quickly as possible,” Bond added, an experienced DUI accident attorney.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, Fernando Pahua Rincon may be entitled to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, noted that the emotional and financial burdens following a serious injury can affect every aspect of a victim’s life, including family responsibilities, employment, finances, and overall well-being.

“It is important for injured victims to retain an attorney when pursuing a personal injury claim so that legal counsel can negotiate with insurance companies on their behalf,” Formica said.

“Insurance providers often attempt to resolve claims quickly for far less than they may actually be worth. An experienced attorney will work diligently to protect a client’s rights and seek the full and fair compensation they deserve.”
