ASP: Faye Ward hurt in Alma rollover collision on wet I-40 roadway

ALMA, AR, (April 26, 2026) – A 39-year-old woman was injured early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 near Alma in Crawford County, according to the Arkansas Department of Public Safety.

Authorities said a 2018 Dodge Charger was traveling eastbound around 5 a.m. near milepost 14 when it lost control on wet pavement west of Alma. The vehicle then left the roadway and struck a guardrail.

The driver, identified as 40-year-old Christopher Marshall of Ozark, died as a result of the crash.

His passenger, Faye Ward of Ozark, sustained unspecified injuries and was transported for medical treatment.

Officials noted that wet pavement may have contributed to the crash. Arkansas State Police continue to investigate the circumstances.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

Wet road conditions significantly increase crash risk because rain reduces tire traction, extends braking distances, and can lead to hydroplaning. Even light rainfall can bring oil and debris to the surface, making roads more slippery and unpredictable.

Drivers often underestimate how much slower they need to travel or how carefully they must steer and brake. Small errors such as sudden braking or overcorrecting can quickly result in a loss of vehicle control.

“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all possible contributing factors that must be carefully examined,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner with Bond Legal.

“In some cases, accident reconstruction experts are needed to determine exactly how the crash occurred. These resources are essential in helping victims and families pursue compensation for losses resulting from a collision,” Bond added.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the results of the investigation, Faye Ward may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, noted that the aftermath of a serious injury can be overwhelming, affecting family life, work, finances, and overall well-being.

“It is essential for injury victims to seek legal representation when pursuing a claim so an attorney can negotiate directly with insurance companies on their behalf,” Formica said.

“Insurance providers often attempt to settle claims quickly for less than their full value. An attorney will advocate aggressively to ensure the victim is treated fairly and receives appropriate compensation.”
